All entries in this database represent PCR amplifiable markers that contain simple repeat sequences (generally di-, tri-, or tetra-nucleotide repeats). All included primer sets amplify X. tropicalis DNA using standard conditions. All primer sets have been tested for polymorphisms using two unrelated Nigerian individuals and two unrelated Ivory Coast individuals. This database lists all primer sets as polymorphic or undetermined. The term Undetermined (Und) is used rather than non-polymorphic or monomorphic, since our small sample (4 individuals) may not be representative of the general population, and markers may likely be polymorphic when compared between other strains or populations. You can search the marker database by entry date (to obtain only markers entered most recently), by expected size of the amplified sequence, or by the type of repeat.

Markers to be retrieved can be sorted by marker ID, by expected fragment size, or by repeat type. Sorting by marker ID allows you to identify markers representing specific scaffolds. Once the marker list has been retrieved, clicking on a marker ID will retrieve additional information on a specific marker; these pages will be updated as new information becomes available.

In addition, you can search for a specific marker ID by entering it in the right panel. This field will also accept partial ID designations.

The initial set of 900 PCR amplifiable markers (from 2004-11-01) represents approximately 100 scaffolds. More recent sets are distributed more broadly to represent a greater range of scaffolds.

To determine if a specific sequence that you have identified (e.g., AFLP, candidate gene) is close to a marker in this database go to the Local Blast page.
